Our enrollment process is designed to ensure a smooth transition for new students and their families. Below, you will find all the necessary steps and requirements for enrolling your child at BPI.
Enrollment Periods
Brownsville enrollment is offered on a year-long contractual basis only. Drop-in and part-time enrollment is not available. This provides stability for student education, and provides successful planning for the school. Because of this contractual basis, and high retention rates, enrollment is not available year round. Brownsville’s primary enrollment date is an August start date, however, space availability may allow for a student to start in June.
Enrollment is offered on a rolling, first-come, first admitted basis during the open enrollment period.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for enrollment at Brownsville Preparatory Institute, students must meet the following requirements:
– Student must be fully potty trained.
– Student must be three years of age or turning three years old soon after the enrollment date.
– Student must be entering pre-school through 3rd grade.

Q: Can my student skip a grade?
A: Brownsville Preparatory Institute is an ability-based environment. We strive to place students students in learning environments that best match their academic and social needs. Three-year-old students are generally placed based on their birth date. VPK and school age are placed based on feedback from previous schools, and will be invited to take an assessment for classroom placement. Placement can be changed based on child performance and social emotional adjustments.
Q: What is the Brownsville pricing structure?
A: Brownsville Preparatory Institute pricing is highly individualized based on the program of enrollment as well as qualification for scholarship and state-funded programs.
Q: What is Brownsville’s operating schedule?
A: Brownsville Preparatory Institute is open year-round, and is generally open from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. We closely follow the Leon County Schools academic calendar, but make some adjustments for BPI operations and cultural celebrations. School Age students are on a 10 month contract, with an option for summer programming. Pre-school students are on a 12 month contract. All contracts begin in August of the school year. Early admissions may be available in the summer on a space-available basis.
